NaturArchy Book Launch

We are pleased to announce the launch of NaturArchy, a publication emerging from three years of transdisciplinary collaboration at the intersection of art, science and policy.

Developed within the framework of the art-science project of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, NaturArchy brings together artists, scientists and policymakers to explore new relationships between humans and the more-than-human world. Rooted in the idea of a “natural contract,” the project reimagines how societies might recognise the agency, rights and value of nature beyond an anthropocentric worldview.

The book reflects a collective journey shaped by deep collaboration—spanning a summer school, residencies, and artistic research processes—addressing urgent questions of deep ecology, socio-environmental justice, and the decolonisation of nature. Inspired in part by the legacy of Michel Serres’ The Natural Contract, NaturArchy engages with contemporary debates on the Rights of Nature, ecological governance, and new imaginaries for coexistence.

At its core, the publication is structured around the 14 artworks developed within the NaturArchy project. Each chapter centres on one artwork, tracing its collaborative process alongside the scientific and policy frameworks that shaped it. A second volume extends this work through a series of contributions that deepen and broaden the discourse on nature, governance, and coexistence

The launch will bring together contributors and collaborators to reflect on the ideas, processes, and futures emerging from NaturArchy, opening a space for rethinking collaborative process for a just, green transition.

We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone and to take part in shaping new narratives for living with, and as part of nature.
