Synocene Forest Walk & Workshop in Brussels | 25/05/2024

On May 25th (Natura 2000 day) in the Forêt de Soignes, Paris-based multidisciplinary artist Marina Wainer, and New York-based musician Sam Nester will lead daily nature walks in Natura 2000 reserve, in small groups of seven to ten people.

This activity is conducted as part of their Synocene project and installation, developed in collaboration with Isabelle Hupont Torres (AI expert, Joint Research Centre, European Commission) Lucía Iglesias Blanco (Direcorate General for Environment, European Commission) and Marina Xenophontos (Direcorate General for Environment, European Commission) and shown as part of the NaturArchy exhibition by JRC SciArt in parternship with iMAL

During these one-hour walks, you will be invited to listen differently, see differently, and engage with your local woodland in new ways. From here, you will be invited to the Community Hall for a guided creative workshop using online artificial intelligence platforms to imagine new ways in which humans, the natural world, and technology come together.

This fun, family-friendly activity is FREE and open to all ages and experiences. There will be two workshops on May 25th, one between 10:00-13:00 and one between 15:00-18:00. They will be conducted in French and English.

The point of departure in the Foret de Soignes will be: Centre Culturel Wabo, Delleurlaan 39, 1170 Brussels.

Through this event, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a new public sound art installation that will be featured at iMAL - Art Center for Digital Cultures & Technology in Brussels - starting May 25th, which you are welcome to visit afterwards.

While the forest walk is free, there is an entrance fee for iMAL’s exhibition.

Your ideas for a future, where humans, the natural world, and AI come together will be part of a special exhibition that contemplates a future Europe looking to achieve the Green Deal. More detailed information is coming soon.

For registration please contact synocene@gmail.com, indicating which session you would like to attend and how many people.

Find this event also on iMAL's website.
