Ghost Contaminants and Complex Pollinators // Presentations of Residency

Don’t miss out on this SciArt morning at the JRC & join us this Friday 17th of March, 11h – 13h CET, for two presentations of residency.

With our resident artists Nonhuman Nonsense and Yiannis Kranidiotis, Sam Nester and Giovanni Paolo Randazzo, these presentations promise to be full of fun, excitement and a chance to get personally involved and find out more about the ongoing developments of the projects.

Yiannis, Sam and Giovanni will present their project Anthos, an immersive, interactive sound and light installation, controlled by the principles of the natural pollination system, demonstrated by a complex system. which is being developed together with colleagues Alba Bernini (complex systems), Irene Guerrero Fernandez (biodiversity) and Ana Montero Castaño (pollinators). Check out this initial video created for the project by Sam, Giovanni and Yiannis.

Nonhuman Nonsense will present their project Haunted Waters in which, together with water quality researcher Caterina Cacciatori, they’ll be exploring the role of contaminants as ghosts, water quality management tools as ghost hunting tools, and engagement of citizens as ghost hunters, connecting the worlds of scientific research and contaminants with mythologies and local communities.

We warmly invite any interested colleagues to join us for any or all of the presentations, both online and in person. There will be a break for coffee and connection.

Schedule

  • 11 – 11:50h CET “Anthos” by Yiannis Kranidiotis, Sam Nester and Giovanni Paolo Randazzo with Alba Bernini, Irene Guerrero Fernandez and Ana Montero Castaño
