On the 14th November the STOA hybrid conference: Artificial intelligence public perspectives will discuss the different initiatives impacting AI public perception including the added value of art in science communication in particular promoting public debate on the advantages and challenges of artificial intelligence use.
Key questions to be addressed include:
How can art spark a public debate on what AI can bring to people exploring on fears and hopes?
How to use artistic imagination and the strength of storytelling for a better reflection on AI?
How can a collaboration of Art & Science develop a narrative that would help us to enter in the era of human-AI interaction?
These have long been core topics of interest for the JRC SciArt project, especially in the framework of Resonances III, with the the theme datami (your data tatami), on Big Data and AI. This initiative had long-lasting echoes, one of which was the recent publication HumaniTies and Artificial Intelligence.
One of its co-editors Jutta Thielen - del Pozo, head of the Scientific Development Unit of the JRC, who participated in Resonances III, was invited to discuss Human-AI interactions as a panellist in the discussion "How public debate on AI sparkled by art can bridge science, citizens and policy?" (16:20 - 17:10). Make sure to follow!
