Synocene Workshops as part of the VOICE project | 10-15 Dec 2024

The NaturArchy project Synocene - Beyond the Anthropocene, originally developed by multidisciplinary artist Marina Wainer and musician Sam Nester in collaboration with AI researcher Isabelle Hupont Torres and policymakers from the European Commission's Directorate General for Environment, Lucía Iglesias Blanco and Marina Xenonphontos, intersects voices from humans, technology and the natural world. First showcased as an installation at the NaturArchy exhibition at iMAL (May - September 2024), it will create more chances for workshops and interactions through funding from the Horizon Europe project called VOICE, with Wainer leading the organisation of these.

By offering a different way of experiencing nature and modern technology, the Synocene process evokes thoughts or feelings in the participants. This is followed by a conversation between people, but also between humans and non-humans. The ultimate goal is for participants to reflect on the connection between humans, nature, and artificial intelligence.

From December 10th to 15th, young and old are invited to participate in a unique workshop, free of charge, in and around the Ulvenhoutse Forest (NL). The workshop consists of a short walk (maximum 30 minutes) through the Ulvenhoutse Forest with a reflective mask on, and an indoor chatbot conversation with elements from nature, such as trees and water. The activities are free and suitable for all ages. Register as an individual or group via: synocene@gmail.com - more details below
